Transfigured

Today is the Feast of the Transfiguration of The Lord.  The Transfiguration is an important template for my novel, meaning I'm prepared to think about it.  Who was there, why that's important, the collision of Old and New Testaments, the enormity of going off for a hike with Jesus and finding yourself face to face with God.  The surprise factor is one of the aspects of my faith that fights my nature.  I like to see things coming.  The problem is with God you can't.  He reserves the right to be beyond comprehension.  Truth be told he is beyond our understanding by definition.  I don't like the first five minutes of a surprise, but I usually warm up to it, before it's over, especially when it's a new aspect of the unknowable revealed.
